Reception
The main reception is just past the A&E entrance. If the doors are shut at night just use the buzzer for entry. It has taxi free phones, a post box and a general shop

Hospital Wards & Access
Dillington Ward, Level 10.
The ward has a 24 patient capacity.

The pharmacy is on level 3

Onocology Ward
It is an open visiting policy but only parents after 8pm
Brothers and sisters can come and stay where possible and if needed but space is limited.

Visitors


Telephones
There is a pay phone on the ward opposite the nurses station. They also have a mobile phone for incoming calls to the patients. They discourage the use of mobile phones on the ward!

To use the phone by the bed you need to buy a ÂŁ2 token from the machine outside the ward area. Friends and relatives can make incoming calls to the number above the bed BE AWARE these are charged at 50p per minute!

Her number is 01935 384558 and her office is just off the ward in the Childrens Outpatients unit.

Parking
It is barrier parking and very restricted! You need to pay with cash only. If you run out of cash you can pay at the general office (if it is open) using a card or cheque and they will give you a card to use to get out.
NB: There is NO discount or waiver for parking if you are in for days/weeks so may be get someone to drop you off if that is feasible!

Public toilets
The nearest to the ward are through the double doors from the lift area onto the staircase area and on the left.
There are toilets and baby changing facilities in the main out patients area on the right of the main entrance.

Parent beds
There are fold down beds on the ward as well as a sofa bed in the Rainbow room – the designated oncology cubicle. This is en-suite family room with a double soaf bed, fridge, microwave and a huge TV!

There is a parents room just off the ward that has a shower room and a lounge area overlooking an outdoor space. It has a door code so you need to ask a member of staff to use it. Its a “child free zone.

Breakfast is free for parents staying in.
Lunch and evening meals – if there are any left over on the trolley they can be bought for £2.50

Hospital restaurant
This is on level 2 and used by staff and patients.
Mon-Fri 8am -5pm and 6.30 – 8.15pm
Weekends 8am-2pm and 6.30-8.15pm

Gallery coffee bar
Mon-Fri 9am-4.30pm

Number 50 – great licensed cafe with fantastic food and a good price. Really chilled atmosphere – also do takeouts for collection.

Takeaways can be ordered from the ward – they have a Yellow pages!

Chinese medicine centre – does massage and reflexology and acupuncture
Tesco opticians – inside the store

Cash Point
The nearest cash point is at the Esso garage just past the hospital turning on the ring road or in the town centre, about 10 minutes walk away there is a NatWest bank and there are cash machines at the Tesco site.

The walk into town is via an underpass – no steps and well lit and well used during the day as it is on the route to the college! Takes about 5-10 minutes downhill on the way into town!

Playrooms and Play Leaders
There is a play leader who works on the ward from 8am -2 pm There is an outdoor space in the outpatients area and on the ward..

Education
There is an education unit at the end of the ward which is open term time from 9am -12 noon. Mon – Friday. They can supply internet access and laptops can be brought in.

Televisions
TVs are provided by each bed and need to be watched with headphones. These cost ÂŁ2 from the nurses.

There is a radio station in the hospital called Radio Camelot. You can ring 01935 384499 to leave requests or messages.

Taxi
There are taxi phones in the hospital or they will ring for you from the ward.

Buses
There is a bus stop outside the hospital main entrance and on the other side on the ring road.

Train
There are 2 stations with frequent buses from both to the bus station which isnt too far to walk.
